Introduction

The JEE Main 2025 Session 2 results have been published by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on April 17, 2025, marking the conclusion of an enduring wait for more than 1.2 million engineering hopefuls. This session ran from April 5 – 12, 2025 and was particularly intense as candidates were vying for places in prestigious institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The official portal jeemain.nta.nic.in also enables the viewing of results which represent an important milestone for seat registration, as well as meeting the criteria for JEE Advanced 2025.

JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Results Declared

This article dissects the specifics of the announcement, including the details surrounding the result’s announcement, percentile ratings, trends in cut-off marks, and proactive measures students can implement in anticipation of their next academic stage.

Key Details and Statistical Overview

As per the schedule, the results for JEE Main 2025 Session 2 were released on April 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM IST. Given that the test took place from 5-12 April 2025, the results were instantaneous. Like the previous year’s trend, this year also witnessed increased participation. 1.2 million candidates participated in the examination which is a 5% increase as compared to the previous year. The examination consisted of 3 papers namely, Paper 1 BE/BTech(PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, MATHS), Paper 2 BARCH (MATHS, APTITUDE, DRAWING), and Paper 3 BPlanning (MATHS, APTITUDE, PLANNING). The results can be viewed on the official website precontained on jeemain.nta.nic.in and its alternate ntaresults.gov.in . The most important Session 2 is to help candidates enhance their marks or scores in their January 2025 attempts. The combined results optimally benefit candidates who choose to retake the test.

Step-by-Step Guide to Accessing Results

Candidates may view their results by navigating to the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in or through the link provided by NTA. For logging in, candidates have to provide their Application Number along with date of birth or password. In case of any credentialing issues, candidates may reset their password through the OTP sent to their registered mobile number. After logging in, check all personal details like name, roll number, category and only then proceed to scorecard download. It is imperative to save the as PDF and keeping the printed copy for future use. Due to high traffic the server may become overloaded so during these times it is suggested that candidates try accessing the website during early mornings or late evenings.

Decoding the JEE Main 2025 Scorecard

The scorecard issued by NTA must be reviewed by the candidates as it contains vital information. It includes the total marks obtained which is out of 300 for paper 1, subject wise marks for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, the percentile score which indicates relative performance across sessions, and the All India Rank (AIR) which will be later declared after merging ranks of both session. It also shows whether the candidate has qualified for JEE Advanced 2025. The percentile score is computed using a normalization method designed to protect fairness for candidates appearing at different time slots or shifts. The formula used is: “Percentile = (Number of candidates scoring lower than you / Total candidates in the session) * 100”. This approach makes certain that candidates are evaluated relative to their peers in the same session.

JEE Main 2025 Cut-off

The NTA JEE Main cut-off is important for determining eligibility for JEE Advanced and differs from category to category. The historical cut-off for General category has been approximately 90.7 percentile in 2024, 89.5 in 2023, and 88.4 in 2022. For OBC-NCL candidates, the cut-offs have been between 72.5 and 69.8, while SC and ST categories have experienced cut-offs between 54.5–52.3 and 43.5–41.9 respectively. Looking ahead to 2025, some experts have predicted a slight increase in the cut-offs due to surging competition; for the General category, 91.0-91.5 is expected, while OBC-NCL is predicted to be 73.0-74.0, and SC/ST 55.0-56.0. Numerous elements impact these provided cut-offs such as the overall amount of participants, how challenging the exam is, and the seat matrix designated for reserved categories.

Qualification Criteria

In order to qualify for JEE Advanced 2025, two primary conditions have to be satisfied. The first is that a candidate’s score must meet or exceed the percentile threshold pertaining to their category. Secondly, they must be among the 250000 ranks for all categories combined. Amongst the General, this usually includes the 10% of applicants while OBC-NCL make up the next 27%. SC accounts for the next 15% and ST for 7.5%. Important dates for JEE Advanced 2025 refers to the registration period which is set from May 10 to May 25, 2025, with the exam taking place on June 15, 2025.

Conclusion

Candidates’ positions in JEE Advanced or plans to either step away or continue attempting the exam will alter with the outcome results of the session two exercises. The candidates’ self assessment and the roadmap is the scorecard both taken in the JEE Main 2025 results. Resilience and Strategic planning will lead to success for candidates whether they attempt the exam once more or have secured a space for JEE Advanced. Keeping track of credible resources has positive ramifications along with a candid bearing and mindset. As we say, every facepalm of life is a challenge waiting to be won.
