Parliament Budget Session Live: In the Rajya Sabha, it also finished with 4 bills that were sent back to the Lok Sabha. Parliament on Tuesday also approved the supplementary demands for grants, which includes additional spending of Rs 51,463 crore in the fiscal’s current, and the Manipur Budget for 2025-26. Along with these, Parliament also approved the excess grant demands of Rs 1291 crore for the 2021-22 fiscal and the8481 crores supplementary grant of 1861 crores for Manipur 2024-25 fragmented that were also incorporated. The Lok Sabha simultaneous passed the supplementary grant dmands for bugets and Manipur 2025-26 on March 11.
At the beginning of this week, PM Modi addressed the Lok Sabha and praised the successful completion of Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. The PM also thanked the people of Prayagraj and praised the regional administration for successfully managing the religious fest on a global scale. Almost immediately after PM Modi’s address, the Opposition MPs in the Lower House created a scene where they were shouting and demanding to be allowed to pose questions after his speech. His address was post the Congress MP Sonia Gandhi’s speech in the Rajya Sabha during the Zero Hour wherein she expressed her concerns about the MGNREGA scheme being diluted.
Moving on to other topics, with respect to the Opposition’s views on PM Modi needing to visit violence affected regions of Manipur, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took a swing at Congress stating that when the party was in power both centrally and in Manipur, they did nothing to resolve problems in Manipur and even their ministers didn’t step foot in the state. While participating in a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the passing of the budget for the Manipur fiscal for the current year and an advance payment for the first half of 2025-26, she guaranteed the house that Manipur has all the support of the centre. She stated the government is putting efforts into regaining the normalcy in the state.
